The Little Owl - Athene noctua
Was introduced to U.K. in 1874. They are spread throughout Europe and in fact are a sacred bird in Greece.. It is the smallest owl to be found in Britain weighing 1/3 of a Tawny Owl. They tend to keep to their own territory and mate for life. They live mostly off insects and small rodents. They can live up to 15 years but generally 5 years is the normal lifespan.
